The Flipped Classroom

I am on the mailing list “Teacher Vodcasting” and received the conference schedule for ISTE 2012 in San Diego this week, which got me thinking about the Flipped Classroom. That and the fact I will have eleven iPads in my room.

Summer should be mental time off for teaching–but creative time to cultivate intellectual interests. It is also an opportunity to create flipped lessons. I am a language arts teacher, specifically teaching in the International Baccalaureate program. Here is a list of potential flipped lessons:

–how to highlight and annotate a novel
–how to annotate poetry
–putting annotations together for the Supervised Writing
–the Individual Oral Presentation (IOP)
–researching for the Interactive Oral

I wonder if Khan Academy will develop lecture videos for Language Arts topics. I imagine them being Grammar and Research skills.

On my iPad, I can create videos with iMovie and Educreations. As I discover other apps I will mention them.
